You may know a lot about computers and how they work, but a simple printer may still give you serious headaches. A document may look good on the screen, but once it comes out the printer, it may look completely different. If you want to print an image, there are not many options available for arranging it on the page. PhotoCool works like a word editor, but instead of text, you can work with images. The software provides with various alignment and editing options, so you will be able to place one or more pictures on a page however you want.

You can try the software, free of charge, for a limited period of time. The installation kit can be found in a 5 Mb archive and the setup process is straightforward. There are no advanced options to find on the way, so the program will be ready in a few seconds.

Working on the software's interface is not hard. The images you load will be displayed as thumbnails on the left part of the interface. They can be loaded from the hard drive or imported from a digital camera or scanner. A page is displayed, like in MS Word, in the larger area on the right. You can place your images on this page by clicking and dragging them. They will be inserted in boxes, so you will be able to move or resize them. With the options on the toolbar, it is also possible to rotate the pictures, crop them to fit in their boxes, add various frames and more.

A small settings window will appear, besides the interface, immediately after launching the program. Here you may select a page layout, choose how to arrange the images and make other configurations. When you insert images on the page, they will automatically snap into place, according to the initial settings. If you attempt to move or resize an image, the software will prompt you to switch to manual mode. You can also choose this mode during the initial settings or by clicking an option on the interface's toolbar.

Additional editing options can be found on a separate window, after double clicking an image. You can manually crop a picture, add a red eye reduction effect and change the brightness, contrast, gamma, hue or saturation levels. These options can be found on the new window's toolbar. After arranging the pictures, you can print your work like any other printable document.

Pros

PhotoCool's options are very flexible. It lets you arrange images on a page, according to certain settings or you can do it manually. The original quality of the images will not be altered, so they will still look good when they are printed.

Cons

You may need some time to study all the options, but it should not take too long. PhotoCool makes it possible to create high quality photo albums, CD covers and any other type of prints. Even novice users can perform this task, thanks to the software's familiar interface and flexible features.
